LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Blue Man Group is out of a job. At least temporarily.

Cirque du Soleil has confirmed that the cast of the show has been laid off. However, they also said they plan to reopen the show when allowed to do so.

RELATED STORY: Cirque du Soleil has filed for bankruptcy protection
Along with our filing for bankruptcy protection, we had to make the difficult decision to lay off the Blue Man Group. We have every intention to reopen the show when government guidelines allow.

Cirque acquired the Blue Man Group in July 2017. Its members are known for their painted blue skin and for creating original music with PVC pipes.

Nearly 3,500 employees have been laid off by Cirque, which is seeking bankruptcy protection. The company has also cut its international touring productions.
