On Monday, 322,000 students are expected to head back to school.

That's an increase of about 2,000 students from last school year.

Melinda Malone with the Clark County School District said they are taking steps towards a long-term solution and are in the process of building more schools.

"Next school year in 2017, we are hoping to open six new schools and for the next year after that in 2018, we are hoping to open up six additional schools," Malone said.

But, for now, portable classrooms offer the best temporary solution.

Additionally, Malone said they hired 1,500 teachers that are new to the district.

Malone said CCSD still has 319 teacher vacancies that they plan to fill during the school year.
