Owners of Northwest Academy arrested on child abuse charges

UPDATE 12:15 P.M.: Las Vegas police confirm that the owners of Northwest Academy, Marcel Chappuis and Patricia Chappuis, were the two arrested just before midnight on Feb. 12.

ORIGINAL STORY

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) - One man and one woman suspected of child neglect and abuse at the Northwest Academy in Amargosa Valley were taken into custody overnight.

This happened at a home near Washburn Road and Buffalo Drive just before midnight on Feb. 12.

Las Vegas police and Nye County Sherriff's deputies worked together to track down the suspects. Authorities have not yet released their names.

Northwest Academy teacher Caleb Hill was arrested Jan. 29 after child abuse claims prompted an investigation at the boarding school. Hill is expected to make his preliminary hearing in March.

The investigation also exposed arsenic in the school’s water with students being tested for arsenic exposure.
