Two people were hurt, one with life-threatening injuries, after a crash Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. where a Dodge Ram truck was turning onto Del Rey Avenue from Rainbow Boulevard and hit two pedestrians who were walking their dog. They were in a marked crosswalk.
Both pedestrians, identified as 57-year-old Flora Largusa and 56-year-old Jerry Largusa, were transported to UMC Trauma. Flora is in critical condition while Jerry is in serious condition.
The 37-year-old male driver of the Dodge remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment.
Sgt. Richard Strader was visibly frustrated when talking about the latest crash. 55 days into 2016, there have 18 deaths in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction.
"I'm pleading to our public you're the ones who can do this. We rely on our police department to keep ourselves safe out here but the reality is we can't be everywhere all the time every place so we have to rely on public to do the right things on the roadways."
Rainbow was closed in both directions near the crash while Del Rey was closed west of Rainbow until around 9:15 a.m.
