There’s nothing like a global pandemic to make you realize just how much you don’t know about science. This becomes especially clear if you try to explain what’s going on to a young child. Luckily, you don’t have to know all the ins and outs of infectious diseases, because there are experts to do that for you — and now one of the leading experts in the fight against COVID-19 has been made into a kid-friendly plush doll.

A small toy company called Bleacher Creatures designed a plush doll that looks like Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The Dr. Fauci toy is 10 inches tall and plenty cuddly, providing a (pretty cute) entry point into talking about kids about the science behind this crisis. The toy also helps shine a light on the heroes that kids may not even know are out there.

The doll also makes a nice collectible item for adults, too.

The Dr. Fauci plush doll is still in the pre-production phase, with Bleacher Creature Toys raising funds on a Kickstarter campaign.

“The Dr. Fauci Bleacher Creature is a fond tribute to a public figure whom we admire immensely,” the company explained in a press release. “We want to show this embattled hero that he has our support, and we hope that others who feel the same way will enjoy this plush figure as much as we do!”

If the company raises enough money to create the dolls, each donor will get a plush doll of their own (or more than one, depending on how much you donate), and 10 percent of proceeds will go toward “COVID research endeavors.”

On its website, the toy maker has Bleacher Creature plushes of pro wrestlers, NBA players, superheroes and even important American figures like Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Benjamin Franklin and several presidents.
