LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Finding affordable housing is getting increasingly harder to do in Las Vegas. But it looks like home buyers are starting to get the message.

If home buyers are wanting to find a dream home, then exploring all areas of the city to get the best deal is a must.

Like any other couple; Olivia Conner and Daniel Minor want certain things in a home and the area where they live.

"Safety, “Olivia said.“I like convenience and a lot of things nearby."

After moving to Las Vegas from Pennsylvania they've fallen in love with Henderson where they rent an apartment.

"An expensive house in Pennsylvania is maybe $150,000 or $160,000,” said Daniel. “You're not getting that here”

And after two years of looking online and contacting various real estate agencies; they're realizing they may have to look outside Henderson.

"Everything is coming to town,” said Olivia. “The Raiders, the Golden Knights are here. People are moving here every day."

Akilah Rogers is General Manager for Opendoor in Las Vegas.

“It means that you might have to look in a zip code that you may not have considered before,” said Rogers.

Has increased in certain parts of the valley due to the affordability of the ten most popular zip codes only two were in Henderson 89014 near Whitney Ranch and 89074 which includes Green Valley South.

North Las Vegas has the most homes falling below the $300,000 price point and in close proximity to Creech and Nelli sAir Force Bases. The most popular zips are 89031 and 89081.

“It's changing it's not what it was 10 years ago,” said Rogers.”There some amazing opportunities if you choose to live over there as well.”

While they still hope to make Henderson home they're not ruling North Las Vegas out.

"The Aliante Casino up in that area,” said Daniel. “Not sure what the zip code is up there. But we really like it up there.”
