LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A man and woman are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in the east valley Monday afternoon, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Lt. Robert Price said police received a 911 call around 3:30 p.m. from a girl stating that she arrived home from school and found her mother and father shot at an apartment in the 4900 block of South Nellis Boulevard near Tropicana Avenue.

When officers arrived, they located a man and woman described as being in their mid-30s suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Price, the man and woman were husband and wife but had been separated for "a while." Price said the man forced his way inside the apartment and waited for the woman, whom he fatally shot before turning the gun on himself.
