LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — As we celebrate Black History Month, 13 Action News is also recognizing those who are making strides within our local community and embodying what we like to call Black Excellence.

A 16-year-old girl in the Las Vegas valley started her own business.

Zoey McRoyal, a Rancho High School student, runs a taco stand in her spare time.

She tells us it originated in California and she brought the business to the valley with the help of her 14-year-old sister.

The two got their food handlers cards, an LLC, and opened shop.

McRoyal says owning a business has empowered her to help other young women in the community and she hopes to serve as an inspiration for others to go after their dreams.

Zoey tells us she wants to go to UCLA but ultimately wants to work for herself and is using the taco stand as a stepping stone.
