LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Harrison is looking for a second chance at a healthy and happy life after experiencing abuse and neglect. The Vegas Pet Rescue Project sent us this blurb about his condition and his past:

Harrison was brought into the Animal Foundation as a stray, completely emaciated and sickly. He was immediately put on their rescue transfer list and had to be pulled by 5 PM the same day. He is in horrible shape, and it is clear that he had intentionally been starved. He was so hungry that he ate metal objects and anything that he could get a hold of just to try and survive. He is in critical condition, but we are hopeful. We know how delicate the situation is so we’re taking it one day at a time. He is too weak to have surgery right now to take the foreign material out of his stomach; we have to stabilize him first. He is severely anemic and might need a blood transfusion. He is all skin and bones and extremely dehydrated. He is currently at our vet, building up his strength so they can take out the foreign bodies in his stomach. He is on IV fluids and is being given small amounts of food. There are so many things that can go wrong for this poor little guy, from organ failure to perforations in his intestines.

We wanted to feature Harrison today, even though he is not currently available for immediate adoption, to highlight the horrible things we have seen. He is just one of the many rescue animals we’ve taken in who have suffered terrible abuse and neglect.

The Animal Foundation has estimated his age to be about 5 years, although it is hard to tell in his current condition. We do hope that he pulls through and that when he is fully recovered we can then find him the perfect forever home that will love and spoil him like he deserves.

Those interested in adopting Harrison should fill out an adoption application form on the Vegas Pet Rescue Project website.
