RENO, Nev. (AP) — A suspect in a shooting north of Reno has been arrested on multiple charges of battery, assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse.
Washoe County sheriff's spokesman Bob Harmon says 30-year-old Scott William Petersen was arrested Tuesday night at a Sun Valley residence where deputies believe he locked himself in a bedroom with a child.
The deputies talked him into surrendering at about 10:45 p.m. and the child wasn't harmed.
Investigators later determined Peterson was a suspect in a shooting that occurred earlier that night outside the residence on Bozic Lane.
Harmon says the man who was shot was treated at a local hospital for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Petersen was being held Wednesday without bail. It's not clear if he has a lawyer or will be appointed one at a pending court appearance.
