Vegas resident celebrates 100th birthday

Gladys Stroud turned 100 years old, so the Desert Breeze Community Center threw her a birthday party on March 29.

Clark County commissioners have proclaimed it Gladys Stroud Day throughout Greater Las Vegas and Clark County on her birthday, which is actually Friday, March 31. Commissioner Susan Brager, whose district includes Desert Breeze, presented the proclamation at the party.

Stroud has been a Las Vegas valley resident since 2002, volunteering at the Sahara West Library and supporting live theater at the Smith Center and the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles.
