LAS VEGAS (KTNV) - Brutal temperatures have taken over the Las Vegas valley, and it's even causing people's air conditioning units to break down entirely.
Technicians with Goettl Air Conditioning have been busy this weekend tending to calls for service.
"We are getting so many 'no-cools' come in, so many broken air conditioners, that we're not sure if we can even handle maintenance calls," said Stephen Gamst, a supervisor for the company.
Gamst said people often make the mistake of skipping routine check-ups on their air conditioning units. Once the triple-digits hit, small problems lead to larger and more costly problems.
Clark County has opened up cooling stations across the valley for people who are dealing with broken air conditioners or people who have no shelter at all. A full list of locations can be found here.
