Police shot and killed a suspect in the northeast valley Monday evening.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirms an officer was forced to shoot at a suspect in the 3800 block of King Palm Avenue near Alexander and Walnut roads.

Officers initially responded to the 300 block of North Nellis Boulevard to investigate an armed robbery of a person. During the investigation, officers received information on the suspect's vehicle and license plate, which brought them to King Palm Avenue.

When officers arrived, the suspect vehicle was in the driveway along with three people. Police then began to them into custody. While this was occurring, however, a man exited the front door of the residence with a handgun. Uniformed officers asked the man to drop the handgun. The man did not comply and police said he raised the gun at one of the officers, who then fired his handgun at the suspect.

The man was struck then fled into the residence still holding the handgun. Additional officers arrived and entered the residence to find the suspect and give aid. The suspect was transported to UMC Trauma where he died.

Per policy, the identity of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours. The identity of the suspect, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

This was department's second officer-involved fatal shooting Monday and 14th officer-involved shooting this year. A woman was killed Monday afternoon near Nellis Boulevard and Craig Road.
