A local man is crediting shaming criminals on social media with fixing a problem in his community.
People have been known to dump trash illegally in the desert near Mountains Edge Parkway and Fort Apache.
13 Action News spoke to one man who saw people throwing trash bags into the desert.
He took a photo of the men and shared it on Facebook. The photo received more than 3,000 views before it was removed.
The poster says that within days of putting the photo on Facebook, the trash was gone.
We don't know who cleaned up the mess but Matt Jones is glad its gone.
The Bureau of Land Management, who owns the lands, says that is you see people dumping trash illegally, don't yell at them.
Just make a note of their information and report it to them. They will then use that information to possibly issue a citation with a fine.
