UPDATE: Even though management offered Ella Patton another apartment until hers could be fixed, she said she's going to stay because it's her home. She's also older and doesn't want to move.
A valley woman is upset after she says property management has continued to neglect her home when it rains, leaving her stuck to live in a damaged apartment.
13 Action News first brought you this story in early April, when Ella Patton contacted us. Our crews were invited inside her home again, Monday, at the Sportsman's Royal Manor off Boulder Highway. Patton said she was having trouble getting property management to clean up after the rains. Despite our invitation, however, the security guard refused to let us pass.
"It doesn't matter what you're trying to do," said the one security guard, as he blocked our crew's paths. "I don't care."
According to the Civil Law Self-Help Center of Las Vegas, in most cases, trespassing does not occur if a tenant of an apartment complex invites a journalist into the apartment, even if the owner of the complex objects to her presence.
Meanwhile, according to the property manager, Deborah Steffy, she did have somebody come check out the roof, but it hasn't yet been fixed.
She has offered Patton another apartment until it's fixed.
