An excessive heat warning will be issued on Friday in the Las Vegas valley from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

High temperatures will range between 108 to 113 degrees.

Residents are advised to drink plenty of water and avoid being outside in the afternoon when the heat is at its worst.

Parents should also carefully watch their children as temperatures rise. They are more likely to develop significant health effects due to extreme heat.

For anyone who needs to get out of the heat, head to the Salvation Army's shelter at 35 W. Owen Ave. Catholic Charities, 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, also provide shelter through the summer. In addition, The Shade Tree on West Owens Avenue provides shelter to women and children.

Additional shelters around the valley may open as temperatures continue to rise.
