The Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD) is issuing a warning to customers and valley residents about suspicious phone call activities involving individuals claiming customers’ water service will be disconnected for failure to make payment.

Customers have stated they have received phone calls instructing them to call a toll-free number to make payment and to avoid disconnection of their water service. In some instances, customers were provided a “reference code” and instructed to go to local drug or grocery stores, where they would be approved for an “express payment” on their water bills.

The individuals making and receiving these calls are not LVVWD employees, and all valley residents should exercise caution if someone claims to be with a water company and asks you to call them for payment of a water bill. The telephone number provided by the LVVWD for billing payments or inquiries will not be a toll-free number, and you will never be asked to go to a local drug or grocery store. The telephone number provided will be the main Customer Care telephone number, 702-870-4194(Opens new window).

If you are concerned about someone who has called your home regarding your water service, call 702-870-4194(Opens new window) during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. After hours, call the Water District emergency number, 702-258-3150.
