LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — It's no secret airports are extremely busy during the holidays.

Here in Las Vegas, 1.7 million passengers are expected to pass through McCarran between Dec. 21 and January 2 alone. That's no surprise according to financial analyst Steve Budin.

"We're still offer a tremendous value for the money. Other cities are much more expensive to visit, hotel rooms are much more expensive... So we provide an enormously great opportunity and value for travelers."

But once the holidays are over, the airport might still be busier than you're used to.

That's because McCarran has added 25 new local and international routes within the last six months, including direct flights to Winnipeg, Edmonton, and non stop flights to Munich and Cancun.

There are also plans to add six more routes next year, with destinations such as Tel Aviv and Amsterdam.

And even though the extra crowds might cause some headaches for those of you heading out of town...The extra tourists are expected to generate tens of millions of dollars for our economy.

"Our viewers who work on the strip should be happy to hear this news. The more visitors that come, the better the job prospects and the better it is for their income," says Budin.
