LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A motorcycle rider died in a crash in downtown Las Vegas on Thursday evening, the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol says.

The crash happened at 4:38 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Charleston Boulevard at the Interstate 15 interchange, officials said.

State Police say the rider was traveling in the left turn lane when, "for unknown reasons." they lost control. The motorcycle hit the median barrier wall that divides westbound and eastbound traffic. After hitting the wall, the bike was steered back into the turn lane, and the rider was ejected.

"The rider was traveling at a low rate of speed and may have suffered a medical episode," State Police said.

They were transported to University Medical Center's trauma center and pronounced deceased.

As of 8 p.m. Thursday, roads had reopened in the area of the crash.
