NATIONAL (KTNV) — As the race to create a COVID-19 vaccine continues, one company is looking at a way to possibly help stop the spread of the virus.
Scientists at Scripps Research are announcing their latest plan of attack.
They've designed a medication with the potential to stop the virus from making copies of itself.
While they appear to be making progress, It could take months of testing before the medication is available.
"This is not a normal yea,r this is not a normal crisis. We are hopeful it will move much faster than that. Normally, it takes about a decade,” said Stacey DeLoye, with Scripps Research.
The research team says it's sharing its study with other scientists in hopes of speeding up the process.
