People starting new businesses during the pandemic

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — As millions of Americans are struggling to find work, some have stopped looking.

They've decided instead to create an opportunity for themselves.

Many Americans are investing their own savings and starting new businesses.

In fact the latest numbers from the U.S. Census bureau show there's been at least 3.2 million new business applications filed this year.

This time last year, that number was only 2.7 million.

The Center for American Entrepreneurship says the numbers are encouraging.

That's because startups are a major source for the innovations that drive economic growth and job creation in the U.S.
