Students are playing an important first responders role as students arrive back on some college campuses.
More than 200 student-run EMS programs are bracing for a possible surge of on-campus COVID-19 cases. Hannah Gilbert is co-president of the student-run EMS program at Macalaster college in Minnesota.
They're preparing for COVID-19 cases by increasing service from two days a week to seven days a week this September.
There's also a new COVID-19 related protocol that says when possible, EMTs will now start a call with a virtual screening. The goal is to determine their risk of exposure to COVID-19 and what PPE gear is needed to provide service safely.
