LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Local animal rescuers had a crazy day on Wednesday.

A young man was walking his dog in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area when he came across what he thought was a feral pig.

However, the pig seemed very hungry and thirsty so he jumped online and found Windy’s Ranch & Rescue, which helps take care of dozen of pigs that have been rescued.

Janice, who runs the rescue, contacted one of her volunteers, Tiffany Voss.

Tiffany and her sister Brianna went to the area with pig food and a crate and were able to rescue the pig.

Janice says she sees this often. People will buy a cute little pig they believe will stay small and when it gets too big, they will dump it or surrender it to a rescue like the one Janice runs.

The pig was taken to Lone Mountain Animal Hospital for a medical checkup.
