On Oct. 1, community volunteers and team members from The Venetian and The Palazzo built 35,000 hygiene kits to improve the health and well-being of populations worldwide.

The kits will benefit several local non-profit organizations in Las Vegas that serve homeless populations and military families.

Each hygiene kit includes recycled, sterilized soap. Other amenities include shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush, and toothpaste.

Sands properties from around the world began building the hygiene kits in July and will continue to do so until Dec. 2016.  At the end of the campaign, the company will have assembled a total of 500,000 kits over the past three years.

The kit building program stems from Sands' partnership with Clean the World, a social enterprise that distributes recycled soap and hygiene products to countries with a high pre-adolescent death rate due to respiratory infection (pneumonia) and diarrheal diseases (cholera). Both illnesses are the leading cause of death for children under the age of five.
