A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper was driving on Interstate 15 near Sahara Avenue recently when he spotted an American flag lying on the road.

Trooper Jason Buratczuk stopped his patrol car and retrieved the flag. Buratczuk believes that the flag must have fallen off a vehicle, most likely a pickup.

Buratczuk took the flag to a local American legion Lodge where they do proper flag retirement ceremonies every 6 months.

Buratczuk says it is important to him that the flag is disposed of properly because he has many family members who are currently serving or are veterans and many of Nevada's troopers are vets and still active in the reserves or guard.

The trooper also says that if you see a flag that has fallen on an interstate or highway, you can call them and they will pick it up.
