Middle school student wins furniture for school

After a rough start to the school year, a local middle school received a special surprise Wednesday.

Back in September, more than 1,000 students at Walker Johnson Junior High were quarantined when mercury was found at the school.

On Wednesday, Walker Furniture completely furnished the school's teacher lounge after 8th grader Caitlyn Gaddi won a contest. She wrote a letter to the local furniture store about her favorite teacher, Mr. Cuccurullo.

"They chose to do this, they don't have to," says Gaddi. "So I think it's important to remember why your teachers do what they do for you."

Officials with Walker Furniture say they received more than 400 letters as part of its Teacher Appreciation Day program.
