Santa is a very busy man, so the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department gave him a lift in one of their helicopters for a surprise visit at a local Walmart.

More than 100 kids partnered up with LVMPD officers for their annual Santa Cops event on Saturday at the Walmart on 4505 West Charleston Boulevard. The children in need filled their carts with toys and clothes.

"They remember this at a young age," said LVMPD Officer Chris Jones. "That's what it's really all about, to change this community. To let them know who we are and really do something for these children that need it."

LVMPD also held a pair of toy drives throughout the weekend that benefited The United Way and Child Haven.
