Hearts Alive Village, located in Las Vegas, has been announced as the $10,000 Freshpet Fresh Start grand prize winner for the West region.
The nonprofit organization was founded because of an intense need to help save dogs and cats from losing their lives in overcrowded shelter systems. Their adoption centers and foster homes continue to provide a safe haven for pets to heal while awaiting their new home.
Winners were chosen by online votes, which means supporters in your area helped Hearts Alive Village win the $10,000! Hearts Alive Village is just one of 1,200 shelters nominated as a part of the Fresh Start program this year.
The Fresh Start program, which was started in 2018 to provide support for overlooked cats and dogs who are often deemed unadoptable, was moved from September to April this year to meet the growing financial needs of shelters during the COVID crisis.
Freshpet has awarded more than $100,000 in contributions in the past two years through the Fresh Start program.
Hearts Alive Village was one of five grand prize winners to receive the $10,000 grant.
