Hikmet Erdogan, a math teacher at Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas (CASLV), was awarded the 2016 Edyth May Sliffe Award for Distinguished Mathematics Teaching in middle and high school.
Erdogan was nominated for the award through numerous letters written by his students and colleagues.
The award was founded by Edyth May Sliffe, a high school math teacher at Emery High School in Emeryville, California. Entrusted by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), the award recognizes teachers whose students earn high marks in MAA AMC Competitions.
