The 19 newest North Las Vegas firefighters graduated Monday afternoon.
The ceremony took place at Aliante hotel-casino.
The keynote speaker was presidentially appointed U.S. Marshal Chris Hoye.
The academy graduates completed 16 weeks of intensive and challenging training. The academy will add eight paramedics to the ranks of the North Las Vegas Fire Department.
This was one of the largest classes to graduate from the academy in North Las Vegas.
The firefighters will now go through one year as probationary firefighters, receiving more on-the-job training and a solid foundation of firefighting and medical knowledge.
