Henderson is again joining with hundreds of shelters across the country to place every adoptable animal into a loving home. For the second year, the City of Henderson Animal Care and Control Facility will participate in “Clear the Shelters,” a nationwide effort to find all shelter pets loving forever homes.

The facility is hosting this special adoption event August 18 and 19. The Shelter will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Adoptions end at 4:30 p.m.; anyone who would like to adopt a pet during the event must have their furry friend chosen before 4:30 p.m. The Shelter is located at 300 E. Galleria Dr. (east of Boulder Highway, near the Bird Viewing Preserve).

All cat, dog and rabbit adoptions will be half price, with an additional 50 percent discount for Henderson residents (please take a driver’s license or other state-issued ID):

  • Cats/kittens (regularly $80): $20 for Henderson residents; $40 for non-residents
  • Dogs/puppies (regularly $90): $22.50 for Henderson residents; $45 for non-residents
  • Rabbits (regularly $35): $8.75 for Henderson residents; $17.50 for non-residents

Adoption costs include routine vaccines, spay or neuter surgery if not already done, microchip ID and registration, and rabies tag or Henderson license (depending on where you live). Anyone with pets at home who wishes to adopt must provide current rabies vaccination and spay/neuter paperwork to get licensed, no exceptions. If pets are already licensed with City of Henderson, this does not apply.
