Beginning March 17, free HIV testing will now be available at the Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) offices at 1120 Almond Tree Lane.

Specially trained staff will administer the tests in a private and confidential setting through the same technology the health district uses, an HIV rapid screening test using a finger prick blood sample, with results in less than 20 minutes.

Testing is available Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m.

No appointment is necessary and anyone over the age of 13 is welcome to be tested. Staff is available to provide assistance in English and Spanish and AFAN's case managers can provide subsequent counseling and other support services.

AFAN's largest fundraiser, the 26th annual AIDS Walk Las Vegas, is coming up Sunday, April 17 at Town Square.

Registration is free and open here.
