Streets around downtown Las Vegas were closed Monday morning in preparation for the 34th annual Martin Luther King Jr. parade.

The road closures went from Gass to Stewart avenues along Fourth Street.

This year's theme of the parade is “Living the Dream: The Movement Continues.” The parade started at 10 a.m.

Thousands of people attend the parade every year, and they say it creates a real sense of community.

"It shows we actually have support in our community, and not just seeing black people but other races as well," Lezaya Roberson said.
