Downtown Container Park invites the local community to help fill The Love Locket heart with love notes on Thursday, Feb. 4, at 3:30 p.m.

Early on the morning of Thursday, Jan. 21, a piece of Downtown Container Park’s heart was stolen. Called The Love Locket and created by artist Nova May for the 2013 Life is Beautiful Festival, the heart sculpture, which stands in front of Container Park, was cut apart and one of its two lock-bearing metal grates was taken.

An interactive collaborative piece between May and festival goers, The Love Locket was created to hold metal love notes, which were written and attached by locks during the inaugural Life is Beautiful festival.

Additionally, 100 metal hearts will be available to the public for a $10 donation to the American Heart Association. The metal hearts can be adorned with a message of love and locked onto The Love Locket. Hearts will be available next to The Love Locket on a first-come, first-served basis.

Downtown Project will also make a matching donation of $1,000 to the American Heart Association.
