The Nevada Division of State Parks is currently seeking grant pre-applications in anticipation of the 2021 Federal Highway Administration funding of the Recreational Trails Program (RTP).

Submittal of a pre-application is required to determine project eligibility. Eligible pre-applicants will be encouraged to submit full funding proposals in the fall of 2020.

Grants may be awarded to counties, municipalities, state and federal agencies, private organizations, non-profits and Native American tribal governments for the purpose of providing and maintaining motorized and non-motorized outdoor recreational trails, associated recreation amenities and outdoor education activities.

RTP funding is limited and allocation of funds will be competitively determined by the Recreational Trails Program Committee.

Previous RTP projects have included the development of the Flume Trailhead parking area in Washoe County, the Sierra Vista Park Trails System in Reno and the Ash Canyon Creek Bridge in Carson City.

Visit their website to review RTP guidelines and download the pre-application.

Pre-applications are due by August 21 before noon. Questions should be directed to Heather Giger at 775-684-2784 or hgiger@parks.nv.gov.
