The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada will officially launch its new transit app, rideRTC, with a celebration Wednesday.

It will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Bonneville Transit Center downtown. Customers can charge their phone for free and receive giveaways, refreshments and be entered into a drawing for a chance to with a $150 Visa gift card sponsored by AT&T.

Each month, everyone who downloads rideRTC app and creates an account within the app is entered in a drawing to win a gift card. The monthly contest runs until April 30, and no purchase is necessary.

RTC representatives will be on hand to provide information on how to download and use the new rideRTC transit app.

With the new rideRTC app, available for use on Apple and Android devices, customers can securely purchase transit passes for all RTC routes, plan their trip and find their bus, all from their phone.

Reduced fare tickets are also available via the app for seniors (60-plus years of age), riders with disabilities and children (6-17 years of age).
