LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Tires are the most important part of your car, at least that’s the philosophy of tire shops like Tire Mart Co.
This local company has three locations in the Las Vegas area, but one of them, at East Tropicana Ave., had to be closed for more than a month, due to the decline in sales at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now that they’re back in business, its president, Lazaro Corral, said that business is starting to slowly pick up.
“We have been affected because we’re in uncertain times, we had to restrict our hourly employees, we furlong a couple of employees,” said Corral.
At the beginning of the year, they had around 30 employees, most of them Hispanics. Now they’re close to 20 and they hope to bring back everyone at some point.
He also mentioned that while tire sales are up in town between March and September, they hoped they would be able to make up for the time they were closed.
COVID19 also made them rethink their business and now they also offer a mobile option for tire installations.
“This is just in case people don’t want to be here for the risk, the time or the money, so we can go to their homes or their offices. If they buy the tires with us, we can go there,” said Luis Herrera, Tire Mart Co. CEO.
Customers like Rosalinda Westmoreland still prefer to visit in person, after she got a flat tire.
She told 13 Action News she waited for less than half an hour to have her tires to be ready and that she was satisfied with the service provided.
Inside the stores, clients can choose to buy new tires or get auto services like tire installation, rotation, balancing, and alignment.
Different options to keep their customers safe on the road, especially with the well-known Las Vegas heat.
