Parents are on high alert after one Ione, California middle school student brought candy laced with meth to school.
The 8th grader claimed the pill was candy because it looked like a pink 'smarty.' The pill later tested positive for methamphetamine.
The school's principal says he's shocked.
The student who brought the candy to school is now facing a drug charge.
Parents say this is a wake up call to start teaching their kids about drugs as early as possible.
