Shocking new video shows a jailer in a Florida detention narrowly escaping death after an inmate attempts to strangle him with a towel.
Deputy Nelson Birch had only been on the job for about 10 months when it happened.
The inmate can be seen sneaking up behind the deputy on the video and throwing the towel around his neck.
Birch was able to escape death after other jailers jumped in to help.
That was Birch's second brush with death.
A few months before that, another inmate sliced him in the face.
He has since retired.
