A selfie statue is rubbing some people the wrong way in Sugar Land, Texas.

The statue features two smiling women taking a selfie. The statue was approved by the city and was placed in front of city hall.

Since then, many residents have complained about the selfie statue on social media.

The statue was part of a 10-piece collection that was paid for by a generous resident. Other statues include a seated man playing a guitar, a woman and child sitting on a bench, and two kids skateboarding and roller skating.

The city is standing strong, saying in a statement that the statue "reflects the public's strong desire for art that beautifies the city."
