Police mistakenly shoot homeowner during call for help

Posted
A family in Indiana wants an explanation after a police officer mistakenly shot their loved one.

The family says it started when they called police because an armed man stole their car.

Just as police got to the house, the homeowner opened the garage door and he had his gun in his hand.

That's when the officer shot him in the stomach.

The department hasn't said if he raised his gun, or if the officer gave verbal commands. But, they admitted this was a mistake.

The officer is on administrative leave.

The man who was shot is in serious condition, but is expected to survive.
