Nextdoor, the social network app for neighborhoods, released statistics that highlight the problems with porch pirates.
The app surveyed 2,000 of its members across the United States from May 4-22, 2018. They found that:
- 62 percent of respondents have experienced a package theft
- 50 percent say package theft is a serious problem in their neighborhood
- 66 percent decided against ordering something online because they were concerned it would be stolen
- 51 percent asked a neighbor for help retrieving a package when they weren't home
