Police shot and killed a dog in New Jersey Friday after it mauled a girl as she was waiting for the school bus.
Witnesses say the pit bull not only went after the 5-year-old girl, but her father and the dog's owner. When Bayonne police arrived, the owner was being attacked and asked for help, which is when an officer fired the shot, according to WABC in New York.
The girl received a huge gash on her head that needed stitches and bite marks on her arms, according to WABC.
Neighbors say the dog, whose original owner apparently died earlier this week, never seemed vicious before.
