Las Vegas headliner Rod Stewart was knighted by Prince William at Buckingham Palace Tuesday.

The 71-year-old Stewart donned tartan trousers, a nod to his Scottish heritage, and a scarlet-trimmed military-style tunic. Stewart is also of English ancestry.

The singer was honored for services to music and charity.

When the award was announced by Queen Elizabeth II earlier this year, Stewart said it was a "monumental honor" and thanked her majesty. Since being knighted, Stewart is now Sir Roderick David Stewart.

Stewart has a residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. His next shows are scheduled for March.
