Charleston residents help couple get married

Posted

Despite torrential rains in Charleston, South Carolina, one couple made the most of it and went forward with their wedding.

Britney and Jason Houdek, of Kansas City, Mo., had booked their wedding weekend in Charleston, according to WCIV. They arrived a week before and family members shortly after. However, the officiant, photographers and makeup artists all had to back out. The groomsmen were stuck on a nearby island.

Charleston City Councilman Mike Seekings offered to marry the couple while local photographer Hannah Summer decided to help as well, according to WCIV. Summer was able to get a second photographer and a DJ.

WCIV reported a military Humvee helped bring the groomsmen to Charleston.

The couple was grateful to all the people who helped make their wedding a reality.

"With everyone just putting everything together we appreciate it so much, and it feels great to finally call this man my husband," Mrs. Houdek told WCIV.
