A reptile was sworn in last week at an Arizona police department.
However, the ceremony that took place in Avondale, which is in the greater Phoenix area, was just part of a late April Fool's Day prank.
It actually originated as an April Fool's prank in 2016 when the department posted Iroh the Drug Sniffing Bearded Dragon on Facebook. Avondale police posted photos throughout the year of Iroh, leading to his eventual swearing in.
Avondale police told ABC15 the prank was aimed at bringing attention to the department's Facebook page.
