Crime prevention not enough after stabbing Tues.

Police are investigating a Tuesday afternoon stabbing.

It happened around 3:15 p.m. near Fremont Street and Eastern Avenue.

Investigators say two women were involved in an altercation. One woman was stabbed in the chest.

She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and police say she is not expected to survive.

The other woman was taken into custody.

Las Vegas police say officers were already in the area as part of their efforts to reduce crime in the area.

The manager of an apartment complex is still asking them to do more by cracking down on smaller crimes.
