A local woman says she was pepper sprayed by a stranger at a park near Southern Highlands and Somerset Hills Monday morning.

Sonia doesn't want to release her last name until she says her alleged attacker is captured.

"Before I could draw back, he's right in my face with a huge can of pepper spray," said Sonia.

Sonia says seconds before the attack, the man was threatening her dog.

"He comes walking towards me, and he goes, get your (expletive) dog away from me," she said.

The woman says she tried to capture images of the man as she called police.

By the time officers arrived, she says, he had gotten away.  She was treated on scene by paramedics.

She's sharing her story to warn neighbors.

"My nose was burning, I couldn't breathe," she said.

Sonia is urging neighbors to exercise extra caution.

"I don't want him to come back and hurt anyone else in the park," she said.
