A valley family is terrified after a violent man breaks into their home near Russell and Durango on Sunday.

Police tell 13 Action News the victim was punched in the face.  Detectives are currently working to identify the suspect.  It's possible his image may have been captured on nearby surveillance cameras.

"They said mommy, someone's inside our house," said Rosita Vasquez.

Vasquez and her husband, Carlito, wish they would've been home that afternoon.

"I cannot get no sleep," said Vasquez.

The victim was too afraid to go on camera.

The attack left the young woman's arm bruised.

Rosita is grateful her daughter and granddaughter are safe; however, she said the burglar took her most priceless possession.

"The day we get married he put that ring on my finger," she said, "...it really hurts, all the stuff is gone."

13 Action News will continue to follow this developing story.
