Deputies at Nye County Detention Center are being credited with saving the life of an inmate who was attempting to commit suicide.
The incident happened at approximately 7 p.m. Dec. 5.
When deputies arrived, the inmate was balanced on a second-floor railing. One of the deputies, Deputy Ann Horak, went up the stairs and began wrestling with the inmate to prevent the inmate from jumping.
The inmate was able to push away and fell from the second floor. Deputy Joshua Armendariz caught the inmate, cushioning his fall.
Neither the deputy or inmate were seriously injured. Both deputies are being credited with saving the inmate's life.
